{"id":3104,"date":"2020-02-07T21:48:11","date_gmt":"2020-02-07T21:48:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.fernandocc17.org\/blog\/?p=3104"},"modified":"2020-01-03T20:20:52","modified_gmt":"2020-01-03T20:20:52","slug":"how-did-i-end-up-teaching-workshop-in-systems-programming","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.fernandocc17.org\/blog\/university\/how-did-i-end-up-teaching-workshop-in-systems-programming\/","title":{"rendered":"How did I end up teaching workshop in systems programming?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This one is pretty weird.<\/p>\n<p>When the old curriculum was still in place, my head of department called me and told me that this class, as I knew, was one of the most difficult, she believed the cause being teacher didn&#8217;t want to update the class syllabus( and with the new curriculum coming up there wasn&#8217;t a point of doing it then) and she wanted somebody young teaching the old things, taking a new approach to this particular class, thinking that might change the output.<\/p>\n<p>I accepted the challenge and started teaching what I think for the students will be the 2nd most difficult class in their career.<\/p>\n<p>I changed things from start, I was teaching taking an approach kind of like a product owner and PM. I will them the dates, let them decide when I will give them a little extra on old things they might forgotten or new things that could help them out and proceed to explain every single practice and theory. I started letting them know that an assembly was the final product and what is an assembly.<\/p>\n<p>My approach worked, most of my students passed in my firsts semester teaching the class, but things went to the other side when that old curriculum started fading away.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This one is pretty weird.
